Posted on February 26th, 2009 No commentsThe 10th match of the Indian premier league was between the Kolkata knight riders Vs Rajasthan royals. This match was played between Newlands. This match was a day/night. Kolkata knight riders won the toss and chose to field first. Rajasthan royals started their match with smith and valthaty as their openers. Smith went back to pavilion with 15 runs. Pathan made 42 runs with 21 balls. Jadeja, Mascarenhas, Raut score 20 odd runs. The final score was 150 runs with 7.50 as their run rate. Sharma, Anureet Singh, Mendis picked up 2 wickets each. Kolkata started their inning with Gayle and Mccullum, Gayle started with an amazing start with 41 runs. Mccullum dint do well and just made 3 runs. Ganguly score 46 runs. It was on of the thrilling match and finished with the score levels. Umpires went on with the super over and gave each team one over. The Knight Riders made 15 runs and Rajasthan scored 18 runs at ease. The match had many twist and turns and finally the Rajasthan won the match.

AB de Villiers Gains for Delhi
Posted on February 23rd, 2009 No commentsThe 9th match of the second edition of Indian Premier League was between the Chennai super kings and Delhi daredevils. The match was played in kingsmead, Durban. Delhi daredevils won the toss and chose to bat first. The openers were Gambhir and Shewag as usual. Gambhir lost his wicket to Balaji in his very first ball and Sehwag also lost his wicket and score only 6 runs. AB de Villiers and Dilshan stood up and held the innings together. Villiers played very well and scores 105 runs with just 54 balls. It was treating for their supporter to see him play with the best shot. Dilshan also made 50 runs and landed with a good total of 189 runs. Balaji from the Chennai side picked up 3 wickets. Flintoff was extremely expensive and gave bout 12 runs per over. The Chennai started their inning with Patel and Hayden as usual. Patel started well buy was sent back for 16 runs by Sangwan. Hayden made 57 runs with just 27 balls. Raina played well for 41 runs. Finally the Chennai scored 180 runs losing by just 9 runs. Sangwan was the best bowler from the Delhi team. The man of the match was AB de Villiers for his superb 104 runs.

Deccan Chargers are back to Charge
Posted on February 20th, 2009 No commentsThe 8th match was held between the royal challengers Bangalore Vs Deccan chargers. This match was held in Newlands, Cape Town. This match was also a day/night match. The Deccan chargers won the toss and elected to bat first. Gilchrest and Gibbs opened the match for Deccan chargers. Gilchirst is one of the best hard hitter of the proved again getting 71 runs in just 45 balls. Gibbs lost his wicket for just 13 runs. Sharma made wonderful 52 runs with 30 balls. Chargers set 184 runs as the target for the challengers. Pieterson picked up two wickets. The run rate was over 9 and looked as a gettable score. Royal challengers Bangalore started off their inning with Ryder and Uthappa both the opener dint not play well and lost their wicket quickly. However Dravid and Pieterson held the inning and built in a partnership. Dravid score 50 runs and Pieterson scored 48 runs. The others collapsed without scoring. The team made only 160 runs and lost their match for 24 runs to the Deccan chargers. Gilchrist was awarded the man of the match. He had score five sixes and six 4′s.

Rain, Rain go away! Little Indians wants to play!

The 7th match between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan royals was one such interruption. The match was to be held at Kingsmead, Durban. This match was a day/ night match. The match was completely stopped by rain. No balls were bowled and toss as well. This match was one of the hot matches between two great teams. The rain continued from the 6th match. This game was a disappointment for the players as well as the viewers. The South African crowd went back home without experiencing the match. The umpires for the match DJ Harper from Australia and TH Wijewardene of Sri Lanka awarded each team with one point. Expects said that this match result will have a marked difference in the points tally.

Gayle Wins the Thriller for Kolkata
Posted on February 14th, 2009 No commentsThe sixth match of the Indian premier league was between the kingsX1 Punjab vs knight riders. This match was played on Kings Mead, Durban. This match again had problems with the rain. However the match progressed. The Kolkata knight riders won the toss and chose to field first. The Punjab started the match with Bopara and Goel as their openers. Goel dint score any and lost his wicket to Sharma. Irfan Pathan played well for his 32 runs with just 17 balls. Sangakkara made 26 runs and the captain Yuvraj Singh made 38 runs of 28 balls. Jayawardene also scored 31 runs in 19 balls. The team managed to get 158 runs in 20 overs with the loss of 6 wickets. Ganguly picked up two wickets. Since rain stopped match, the Kolkata was given 69 runs from 9.2 over. Gayle and Mc Cullum started the inning, McCullum made 21 runs in 16 balls on the other hand Gayle played his superb stroke getting 44 runs in 26 balls making 69 runs easily. The Punjab bowlers were punished by Gayle and he scored 4 six’s and 2 fours. He was chosen as the man of the match.

Chennai Opens their Account
Posted on February 11th, 2009 No commentsThe fifth match was between the Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs the Chennai Super Kings. This match was played at St George’s Park, Port Elizabeth. This was a day/night match. The Super kings won the toss and choose to bat first. The openers were again the same combination as the previous match. Both the openers, Hayden and Patel played well and gave a good start without losing wickets. Patel was out with 30 runs and the wicket was taken by the challengers captain Pietersen. Following him Raina played for 28 runs. Dhoni added 16, Flintoff made 22 runs making a huge total of 179 runs. The run rate was about 8.95 runs per over. The Super Kings lost 5 wickets. Praveen Kumar of the challengers took two wickets. The Bangalore started their chase with Praveen Kumar and Uthappa. Praveen dint score and went back with a duck. Uthappa and Kallis made 20 odd runs each. Together with them Dravid also scored 20 runs. Scoring just 87 runs and losing their entire wicket in 15.2 over to the super kings. The best bowler was Muralitharan who picked up 3 wickets. The man of the match was give to the Sri Lankan player Muralitharan.

Middle Order Collape
Posted on February 8th, 2009 No commentsThe 4th match was between the Deccan chargers and Kolkata knight riders which were held at Newlands, Cape Town. This was a day/night match. The knight riders won the toss and elected to bat first. The opening was by McCullum who was the captain and the Chris Gayle. The captain was out for just 1 run and Gayle lost his wicket for 10 runs. Hodge played got a decent 31 runs and the rest of the team failed to perform well. They scored just 101 runs in 19.4 over losing all their wickets. Ganguly again dint fair well this time too. The best bowler from the Deccan Charger was RP Singh who picked up 4 wickets. It was a gettable target for the Deccan Chargers and made it quite comfortably. The Deccan chargers’ opener Adam Gilchirst scored just 13 runs. Gibbs on the other hand played very well for his 43 runs in just 26 balls. He was the one who took the game from the Knight riders. They managed to reach the score in just 13.1 over with the loss of 2 wickets. Scoring 7.89 runs per over which was higher the required 5.13 runs per over. The Deccan charger made the first victory in Indian premier league. Harmeet Singh made the debut in this edition of IPL for the chargers. The man of the match was given to RP Singh.

Rain at Newlands
Posted on February 5th, 2009 No commentsThe 3rd match of the Indian Premier League was between the Delhi daredevils and the Kings X1 Punjab. This match was held in Newlands in Cape Town. This match was stopped now and then by rain. Somehow the mach started with the minimum of 12 over and kings Punjab was put to bat as the daredevils won the toss. The Punjab inning went on well as the opening batsmen made a good partnership. Goel scored 38 runs while Bopara score 22 runs and the rest gave away their wickets early. The kings X1 Punjab made 104 runs of making 8.66 runs per over. The best bowler of the daredevils was DL Vettori who took 3 wickets. Due to rain, the match was stopped and the Delhi team had to score only 54 runs in just 6 over. The opener Gambhir and Sehwag made it at ease. The cricket fans were not happy in the way the match went on, it was certainly unfair to judge a team by just 6 over. Anyways two points was given to daredevils. It was an easy win by 10 wickets. The man of the match was Daniel vettori.

Royal challengers Vs Rajastan Royal

It was the first day/night match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the previous edition winning champion Rajastan royals. The royal challenger captains Kevin Pietersen won the toss and elected to bat first the openers dint not score well. Ryder went back without scoring and Uthappa just made three runs. Further Pietersen and Dravid built in a partnership and Pieterson scored 32 runs and Dravid went on to play well scoring around 66 runs. Finally they landed with a score of 133 runs with 6.65 runs per over. The best bowling performance from the Rajastan was Mascarenhas with 3 wickets and gave away just 20 runs in 4 over. This was an easy score for the Rajasthan players. In the second inning the royals came in with their opening batsman smith and Asnodkar who dint do well and lost early wickets and managed to get 58 runs losing all their wickets in 15.1 over. It was the best bowling performance of the Bangalore team. Anil Kumble with his magic bowling too away 5 wickets and Praveen Kumar picked 2 wickets. For the Rajasthan, Kamran khan started his debut and the player of the match was R. Dravid.
