    The 2nd semi finals of the Indian premier league were between Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers. Royal challengers won the toss and invited the Chennai super kings to bat first. Patel and Hayden started the match for the Chennai team and made 50 odd runs. Other‘s in the team score a few runs and lost their wicket easily. With the target of just 147 runs in 20 over Kallis and Pandey opened the inning for the Challengers. Pandey score 48 runs while Dravid also made 44 runs and lead the team to success. In 18.5 over, with the loss of 4 wickets challengers made 149 very easily. MK Pandey was given the man of the match award. The Royal Challengers won by 6 wickets.

    The 54th match of the game was between Chennai super kings vs. Kings XI Punjab. Chennai super kings won the toss and choose to bat first. This match was played at king’s mead Durban. Bailey and Patel stared the match for Chennai super kings. Patel played well for 32 runs. Raina played well for 20 runs and the team managed to 116 runs with the loss of 9 wickets. Pathan took two wickets for his team. Kings XI Punjab started the innings with shoal and Katich who just made 11 runs. Pomersbah made 26 runs, the team scores 92 runs and loss the match to Chennai for 24 runs. Thusha, Muralitharan, Ashwin, SK Raina picked up two wickets each. Muralitharan won the player of the match title.

    The 51st match the second edition of Indian premier league was held between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. This match was played at super sport park, centurion. Chennai super kings won the toss and chose to bat first. All batsmen played well and contributed to the score board. Raina called 52 runs with just 36 balls. The team scored 188 runs with the loss of 2 wickets with 20 over. Kolkata knight riders started the innings well with Mc Cullum scoring 81 runs, Hodge 71 runs. The match was completely in Kolkata side and they won as well. It was one of matches which were thrilling till the very end. The man of the match was given to Kolkata knight rider’s star player BJ Hodge.

    The 47the match was between Chennai super kings vs. Mumbai Indians. This match was played at St George’s Park, Port Elizabeth. The toss was won by Mumbai Indians. Jayasurya gave a good opening of 30 runs in just 17 balls. Duminy made 62 runs in 54 balls and the team reached the score of 147 runs in 20 over with the loss of 5 wickets, the run rate of 7.35 runs per over. Chennai super kings opened the batting with Patel and Hayden. Hayden played well and made 60 runs, other batsmen in the team also contributed well for their team. With the loss of 3 wickets the team made a comfortable win. Hayden was given the man of the match award.

    The 44th match was between Royal challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super kings. Chennai super kings won the toss and chose to bat first. Vijay and Hayden opened the batting for Chennai. Hayden as usual makes 60 runs in just 38 balls. Raina and Dhoni made 13 and 18 runs respectively. The middle order collapsed. Finally Chennai made 129 with a run rate of 6.55 runs per over. Kumble, Vinay Kumar, Kallis took 2 wickets for Bangalore. With the target of 129, Uthappa and Kallis opened the batting and dint fare well. Taylor and Kohli held the inning and scored well and reached the target in 19.4 over with the loss of 8 wickets. Morkel and Oram picked two wickets each. Taylor of royal challengers won the player of the match award.

    The 37th match of IPL season 2 was similar to final match of IPL season -1, except for the result. Last season runners Chennai Super Kings faced defending champions Rajasthan Royals at De Beers Diamond Oval. Rajasthan won the toss and elected to bat first. Chennai Super kings who are considered to have strong batting lineup had to bowl first. Rajasthan could not stand the spin balls. Wickets started falling at regular intervals. Rajasthan got 140 runs in 20 over for the loss of 7 wickets. Spinners’ Muralitharan and Jakati took 2 wickets each. Chennai as usual opened their runs account well. Hayden scored 48 runs off 44 balls. Badrinath contributed 59 runs off 41 balls. Chennai won the game for the loss of just 3 wickets in 18.2 over. Badrinath, who scored 59 runs off 41 balls was declared the Man of the Match.

    Chennai super kings faced the kings X1 Punjab on the 34th match played at Supersports Park Centurion. Chennai super kings won the toss and chose to bat first. Hayden played well for his 89 runs and Dhoni also made 56 runs in just 27 balls. With the loss of 3 wickets the team managed to score 185 runs with 10.27 runs per over. With the target of 187 runs per over Kings Punjab played well but failed to meet the asking run rate. Yuvraj Singh played well for 58 runs and Jayewardene for 44 runs in 25 balls.174 runs in 18 over is all that they could make. Hence the Super kings won by 12 runs by D/L method. The player of the match was given to Hayden for his brilliant stroke with 6 sixes and 8 fours.

    The 29th match of Indian Premier League was played between Chennai super kings and Deccan Chargers at Buffalo Park. Chennai, who gave a blowing start, continued their magic with bat and raised a huge total of 178 with loss of just 3 wickets. This created a huge pressure of Deccan Chargers. Playing with huge pressure, Deccan Chargers started losing wickets at regular intervals. With 8 single digit score, including 3 golden ducks, Deccan surrendered for 100 runs in just 14.4 over. It was a easy win for Chennai Super Kings. Smith managed to score 49 runs off 23 balls for Deccan chargers. Chennai skipper Dhoni who scored 58 runs off 37 balls was judged as Player of the Match.

    The 26th match of Indian Premier League was held at New Wanderers stadium, Johannesburg between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi daredevils. Dhoni won the toss for Chennai Super Kings and elected to bat first. The top order batsmen displayed classics with their bat and piled a huge total of 163 for loss of all wickets in just 18.3 over. Delhi daredevils who managed a decent start with Warner scoring 52 started losing wickets on one side. Later Karthik added another 50 more. With Three golden ducks Delhi stumbled and was able to score only 145 in 20 over. Jakati who took 3 wickets including that of Warner and Karthik was judged as the man of the match.

    The 22nd match of the Indian premier league was between Chennai super kings and Rajasthan royals. This match was held in Super Sports park, Centurion. This match is a day/ night match, one of the most expected match. Rajasthan won the toss and first chose to field first. Chennai openers are Patel and Hayden. Patel lost his wicket for 3 runs and Hayden lost for 1 runs. However Raina scored 98 runs with just 55 balls which was a big score. Dhoni made 22 runs. A total of 164 were made by the Chennai super kings. The run rate was about 8.20 runs per over. Pathan and Patel took 2 wickets to the credit. Rajasthan royals innings was a big middle order collapse, most of their batsman dint fair well. They managed to make just 126 runs. Balaji picked 4 wickets, Morkel and Oram made took 2 wickets. S Tyagi started with the debut in this match. Finally Chennai super kings won with 38 runs. Suresh Raina of Chennai Super Kings was given the man of the match award.
