Delhi makes it strong before semifinals

Delhi daredevils won the toss and chose to bat first. Mumbai Indians started their innings with Jayasurya and Tendulkar. Tendulkar played well for his 46 runs and held the innings in place. AM Rahane scored 56 runs off 32 deliveries. Finally the team managed to get 165 runs with the loss of 8 wickets. The Delhi team started the inning with Gambier and Warner. Gambhir made 47 runs, Sewag made 50 runs as well. The daredevils reached the target easily in just 17.3 over with the loss of 6 wickets. Harbhajan Singh picked 4 wickets for the Mumbai team. The player of the match was given to V Sewag.

Jayasurya gave a good opening of 30 runs in just 17 balls. Duminy made 62 runs in 54 balls and the team reached the score of 147 runs in 20 over with the loss of 5 wickets, the run rate of 7.35 runs per over. Chennai super kings opened the batting with Patel and Hayden. Hayden played well and made 60 runs, other batsmen in the team also contributed well for their team. With the loss of 3 wickets the team made a comfortable win. Hayden was given the man of the match award.

Rajasthan clinches the thriller

Quiney made 51 runs and made credit to the team. Jadeja too made 42 runs as well. Finally the team made 145 runs with the run rate of 7.25 runs per over. Jayasurya made 2 wickets for his team. Bravo and Takawale opened the inning for Mumbai Indians. Tendulkar and Nayar scored well. Mumbai Indians made 143 and lost all their wickets. Rajasthan won by 2 runs. The man of the match was won by Warner.

KingsXI Punjab won the toss and elected to bat first. Sohal and Katich started the bating for Punjab. Katich lost his wicket soon. Sohal played well for his 43 runs. The middle order collapsed as well. Finally the team scored only119 runs with just 5.95 runs per over. Duminy picked two wickets for his team. Mumbai Indians started with Jayasurya and Bravo. Bravo scored well with 70 balls with just 59 runs. They got winning runs with ease. Lee and Chula picked one wicket each. Harbhajan Singh was awarded the man of the match for his amazing bowling.

Costly game
Posted on May 19th, 2009 No commentsThe 38th match of Indian Premier League season-2 was played between two costly teams, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore at St. George’s Park, Port Elizabeth. Yashpal Sharma was the referee for the match. Mumbai Indians who won the toss elected to bat first. Though it lost its skipper Sachin for a duck, Jayasurya, Rahane and Duminy joined hands to raise the score to 157 runs with a loss of just 2 wickets. Bangalore started stumbling right from the beginning. They started losing wickets at regular intervals. Boucher managed to score 48 runs off 33 deliveries. Bangalore was able to score only 141 runs in 20 overs. So Mumbai Indians won the game by 16 runs.

Bowlers turn to lead

Mumbai Indian won the toss and chose to bat first with Bravo only scored 35 runs other lost their early wickets and landed up with the score of 116 runs with the run rate of 5.80 runs per over. Bhatia took 3 wickets and Nannes and Nehra took 2 wickets each for the daredevils. Gambhir and Warner opened the batting for Delhi team and reach the target very easily. AB De Villers took 50 runs in 38 balls and lead the team to victory. The bowler outperformed the batsman this time and Nehra was given the man of the match award. It was a fabulous game to enjoy.

Deccan shocks Mumbai

Deccan chargers won the toss and chose to bat first. Sharma was the leading scorer with 38 runs, and other in the team also contributed well. Finally they came to a score of 145 with 7.25 runs per over. The Mumbai Indian started their bating with the usual combination of Jayasurya and Tendulkar. Both the batsman returned to the back scoring less runs. It was only Duminy who scored 52 runs. All other batsman dint does well. Hence they lost 8 wickets scoring only 126 runs. RG Sharma took 4 wickets and was the man given the man of match award. It was the excellent bowling attack by the Deccan chargers. Mumbai Indian failed to win because of their batting performance.

Easy Victory for Bangalore

Right from beginning Mumbai struggled to score huge. With Jayasurya and Bravo scoring half centuries, the Mumbai Indians scored a decent score of 149 for the loss of 4 wickets. Royal Challenger, who lost Jaffer, continued playing well. With Uthappa and Kallis scoring more than 60 each, the Royal Challengers scored their 150 runs target in just 18 over. Kallis who scored 69 off 59 balls was judged the Player of the match. It was a easy victory for Bangalore against Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai makes clear march

The toss was won by Mumbai Indians who chose to bat first. The Mumbai team started the game with Jayasurya and Tendulkar as their opening batsman. Jayasurya made just 6 runs and Tendulkar made 34 runs. Duminy was the hard hitter and got 52 runs in 37 balls. The team reached to a score of 148 runs. Sharma, Dinda, Karthik, Agarkar, Gayle and Hodge took one wicket each. Kolkata was riding on the losers way as they lost most of their matches wanted a win to gain confidence bust still they dint manage to reach the target. They reached just 139 runs and failed to meet the required run rate of 7.40 per over. Zaheer Khan took 3 wickets. The Mumbai Indian won by 9 runs. JP Duminy from mumbai Indians was given the man of the match award, which included 4 sixes and one four.

Sangakkara saves Punjab

The Punjab team won the toss and chose to bat first. Opening was by Boar who scored only 6 runs. Goal played for just 12 runs. It was Sangakkara who made 45 runs. Other lost their wicket early and managed a score of 119 of the run rate of 5.95 runs per overs. Malinga picked up 2 wickets. Zaheer Khan, Singh, bravo, Duminy and Jayasuriya picked one wicket each. 120 was a gettable target and Mumbai Indians failed to make it with the help of Duminy they gave a tough fight. Jayasurya and Tendulkar dint perform well and lost their wickets in single digits. Bravo scored 15 runs and others in the team collapsed easily and gave their wickets easily. The Kings Punjab won by three wickets. The man of the match was given to Sangakkara. This was one of the thrilled in the second edition of IPL
