This match was played at king’s mead Durban. Bailey and Patel stared the match for Chennai super kings. Patel played well for 32 runs. Raina played well for 20 runs and the team managed to 116 runs with the loss of 9 wickets. Pathan took two wickets for his team. Kings XI Punjab started the innings with shoal and Katich who just made 11 runs. Pomersbah made 26 runs, the team scores 92 runs and loss the match to Chennai for 24 runs. Thusha, Muralitharan, Ashwin, SK Raina picked up two wickets each. Muralitharan won the player of the match title.

Deccan chargers won the toss and chose to Field. This match was played at the New Wanderers stadium at Johannesburg. Kings XI Punjab opened their innings with Sohail and Katich who didn’t play well and just got a few runs on the board. Sangakkara played well for 56 runs and finally the team scored 134 runs RP Singh picked up 3 wickets for the team. The Deccan chargers started well with Gilchirst scored 23 runs of 13 balls. Sharma played well for his 42 runs in 26 balls. The chargers played well and managed to get 133 runs. Yuvraj Singh picked 3 wickets for his team. The player of the match was Yuvraj Singh.

Easy win for Punjab

This was a day and night thrilling match between Delhi daredevils and kings XI Punjab. Gambier and Sehwag opened the batting and failed to do well. The middle order also dint play well and got only a few runs for the team. The team just made 120 runs with the run rate of just 6.00. Lee picked 3 wickets, Iran Pathan and Sreesanth picked 2 wickets for the Punjab team. It was a easy target for Punjab, Katich made 20 runs while Yuvraj made 43 runs. Sangakkara made 21 runs in 11 balls. Maharoof took 2 wickets for the team. It was a easy win for the Punjab. Bret lee was given the man of the match award.

KingsXI Punjab won the toss and elected to bat first. Sohal and Katich started the bating for Punjab. Katich lost his wicket soon. Sohal played well for his 43 runs. The middle order collapsed as well. Finally the team scored only119 runs with just 5.95 runs per over. Duminy picked two wickets for his team. Mumbai Indians started with Jayasurya and Bravo. Bravo scored well with 70 balls with just 59 runs. They got winning runs with ease. Lee and Chula picked one wicket each. Harbhajan Singh was awarded the man of the match for his amazing bowling.

Posted on May 13th, 2009 No commentsThe 36th match of Indian Premier League Season-2 was played between Deccan Chargers and Kings XI Punjab at De Beers Diamonds Oval, Kimberley. It was a hot and sunny day. Kings XI Punjab won the toss and invited Deccan Chargers’ to bat first. Deccan’s gave a decent start, although wickets were falling at regular intervals. One of the highly paid players of IPL season-1, Symonds scored 60 runs off 38 deliveries. Bret Lee, Sreesanth, Chawla and Mota picked one wicket each. Deccans’ scored 164 runs in 20 over for a loss of 5 wickets. Top order players of Punjab displayed good batting skills. There was a steady flow of runs. Deccan’s tried almost 8 bowlers, but in vain. Punjab ceiled the match with one ball to spare. Jayawardene, who scored 43, was declared man of the match.

Hayden does it again for Chennai

Hayden played well for his 89 runs and Dhoni also made 56 runs in just 27 balls. With the loss of 3 wickets the team managed to score 185 runs with 10.27 runs per over. With the target of 187 runs per over Kings Punjab played well but failed to meet the asking run rate. Yuvraj Singh played well for 58 runs and Jayewardene for 44 runs in 25 balls.174 runs in 18 over is all that they could make. Hence the Super kings won by 12 runs by D/L method. The player of the match was given to Hayden for his brilliant stroke with 6 sixes and 8 fours.

Rajasthan crushes Punjab
Posted on April 25th, 2009 No commentsThe 30th match of Indian Premier League season 2 was played between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan Royals who won the toss elected to bat first. Ojha and Smith gave a wonderful opening partnership of 135 runs off just 14.5 over. Jadeja also added to it. Rajasthan finished with a whooping huge score of 211 runs at the rate of 10.55 runs per over with a loss of just 4 wickets. This was considered as the biggest score ever in IPL season 2. Punjab started facing hardships right from the beginning. Their opener Sohal went for a golden duck in the very first ball of their innings. Skipper Yuvraj scored around 48 runs off 37 balls. Punjab managed to score only 133 runs in their stipulated 20 over. It was a huge victory for Rajasthan Royals. Smith, who scored 77 runs, was declared man of the match.

Punjab clinches the thriller

Kolkata who won the toss elected to bat first. Right from the beginning Kolkata struggled to face Punjab’s bowling attack. Run rate was tickling slowly. But sooner Hodge joined with Ganguly to boost the run rate to over 7.5. Kolkata finished their quota of 20 over scoring 153 runs. Punjab who lost their first wicket in first over, managed to score well. Jayawardene and Katich contributed a good performance. Poor performance from the skipper Yuvraj made the easy match a triller for Punjab. But Punjab still managed to win with a finishing touch from Pathan.

Middle Order Collapse

Royal challengers won the toss and started to bat first. Ryder and Goswami dint bat well as they just made 12 runs together. The top scorer for royal challengers was Van Der Merwe who scored 35 runs. The royal challengers put up a score of 145 runs with 7.25 runs per over. Yuvraj bowled very well and took 3 wickets. YA Abdulla too picked up 4 wickets. Punjab started their batting with Yuvraj Singh and Goel. Yuvraj played well for his 50 runs. There was a big middle order collapse and no other batsman played well. This was one of the worst performances of kingX1 Punjab. The player of the match was given to Yuvraj Singh who hit 4 huge sixes and 3 fours. The Royal Challengers won by 8 runs.

The Punjab team won the toss and chose to bat first. Opening was by Boar who scored only 6 runs. Goal played for just 12 runs. It was Sangakkara who made 45 runs. Other lost their wicket early and managed a score of 119 of the run rate of 5.95 runs per overs. Malinga picked up 2 wickets. Zaheer Khan, Singh, bravo, Duminy and Jayasuriya picked one wicket each. 120 was a gettable target and Mumbai Indians failed to make it with the help of Duminy they gave a tough fight. Jayasurya and Tendulkar dint perform well and lost their wickets in single digits. Bravo scored 15 runs and others in the team collapsed easily and gave their wickets easily. The Kings Punjab won by three wickets. The man of the match was given to Sangakkara. This was one of the thrilled in the second edition of IPL
